PRIMITIVA FORBIDDEN ISLAND - MARTIN DENNY [CD]

Martin Denny may not be a household name to the masses, but in the world of exotica music, he is an absolute legend. His album "Primitiva + Forbidden Island" is a double dose of tropical vibes that will transport you straight to a tiki bar in the 1960s. On "Primitiva," Denny brings his trademark cocktail of lush orchestrations, bird calls, and vibraphone wizardry. The album kicks off with the upbeat and infectious "Tsetse Fly," setting the tone for a wild ride through the jungle. Tracks like "Pagan Love Song" and "Jungle Madness" are dripping with atmosphere, making you feel like you're on a swaying hammock surrounded by palm trees. As you flip over to "Forbidden Island," the mood shifts slightly to a more mysterious and seductive vibe. Denny's mastery of the exotic sound is on full display here, with tracks like "Similau" and "Oriental Strut" oozing with sensuality and intrigue. The album closer, "Coral Reef," is a dreamy, underwater journey that perfectly encapsulates the escapism that Denny's music offers. Overall, "Primitiva + Forbidden Island" is a delightful romp through Martin Denny's enchanting world of exotica. So grab yourself a mai tai, put on your loudest Hawaiian shirt, and let yourself be swept away by the magic of this timeless music. Cheers to Martin Denny, the king of escapism!
